Wind turbines have been given the go ahead for Carsington.
A WIND farm has been given the go-ahead for Carsington Pastures.
Four 100m turbines are set be built at the Dales beauty spot after an appeal inspector ruled planning permission should be granted.
Derbyshire Dales District Council turned down the application last year but Carsington Wind Energy Ltd took its case to planning inspector Robin Brooks.
Rebecca Cole-Morgan from Protect Carsington and Hopton Action Group said: "The action group is incredibly disappointed that the inspector feels this is a good location for a wind farm.
"We put forward a very strong case that there are far more suitable sites.
"I moved here from Manchester. We were looking for the rural idyll and found it in the village of Carsington. It is a beautiful spot, quiet and unspoilt and as far as I'm concerned this decision will spoil the village for me.
"I'm not against green energy and understand it is the future. I want to protect the world for my children but also want to protect my home. It will spoil the environment and why moved here."
The group collected 1,481 signatures, 770 letters and 56 emails against the proposals during a seven-week campaign and argued a wind farm would have a harmful impact on tourism, heritage, noise and the landscape.
During the eight-day appeal hearing issues including impact on the landscape, tourism, whether alternative sites could be considered and renewable energy targets were all looked into.
